Kansas Federal Jury Hits Syngenta for $218M in First Corn Trial

Earlier today a Kansas federal jury awarded a group of nearly 7,000 farmers in Kansas $218 million against corn-seed giant Syngenta over genetically-modified corn seed.

The trial lasted approximately three weeks and centered around the asserted negligence and misrepresentations of Syngenta concerning their introduction of their new GMO seeds in 2012.  The introduction lead to China refusing to accept any US corn which flooded the market and drastically drove corn prices down.

The next trial set in the Syngenta litigation will commence in Minnesota and involves nearly 60,000 farmers.
